| GMI has a long history of
installing carpet on cruise ships and marine vessels. GMI can
supply and install all types of carpet and underlay. Our professional
installers work with custom pattern carpets and installation
methods include direct glue down, double stick and tack strip.
Our knowledge and experience with carpet materials and multipurpose
adhesives ensures the job gets done right the first time. A
typical re-carpeting installation includes the following:
1. Ensure ample carpet and materials
are on hand to complete the job.
2. Tear up existing carpet and underlay
keeping subdeck damage to a minimum.
3. Patching areas of subdeck repair
with a fast-setting, latex-modified, cement based patching
compound.
4. Layout carpet runs.
5. Install underlay (if applicable)
with a quick grabbing multi-purpose adhesive.
6. Install carpet with either direct
glue down or double stick with tack strip.
Ensure carpet seams are sufficiently
adhered using a latex seam sealer where needed.
7. Roll out carpet seams and clip
where needed. Pictures of subdeck repair, carpet installation
